Do you want a say about Bournemouth housing?

Are you renting your home privately in Bournemouth? If so, housing and homelessness charity Shelter would like to hear from you.

A special event on Friday 12 January will bring private renters together to share their housing stories, take part in a survey and learn more about Shelter’s campaigning work – and members of the Homelessness Partnership BCP are invited to come along, too.

By taking part, people can play a role in Shelter’s campaign to demand safe, secure homes for our community.

Housing problems in Bournemouth

Private renters make up 25% of Bournemouth’s community. However, for many years, Shelter says that some renters’ experiences of disrepair and poor conditions have been ignored.

Now, with rents rising and becoming increasingly unaffordable, the situation is at risk of deteriorating.

The event will help to identify the biggest problems within Bournemouth’s rental system and identify solutions that local renters need.

A spokeswoman for Shelter said: “Do you rent privately from a landlord or letting agency? Are you renting now or have you ever rented? Or have you tried to rent in the area? If so, we want to hear from you!”

Shelter’s event takes place on 12 January from 4-7pm at The Well Coffee Lounge, which can be found at 17-19 Royal Arcade, Boscombe BH1 4BT.

Anyone who would like to come along should RSVP by email to Delilah_smith@shelter.org.uk. Refreshments will be available.

People renting privately who would like to have their say but cannot attend the event can take part in Shelter’s survey online (it only takes seven minutes) by clicking this link: https://www.research.net/r/92YFBJ3

If the postcodes in the survey do not reflect where you live, please still contact Delilah (email address above) because Shelter would love to hear from you and welcomes your feedback.
